The world lost a great racing driver in 1994, when Ayrton Senna lost control of his F1 car and died shortly afterwards. But the fans still chant ‘Senna! Senna!’ in the grandstands today. Sp take a few minutes of your friday afternoon to watch some of Youtube’s finest…
Everyone who knows F1 knows about Ayrton Senna. You may not have liked him, but you certainly had to respect him and his driving. 16 years after his death fans still chant his name, and tell stories of magical drives, lucky escapes, and dubious manoeuvres.
This week the first trailer has emerged (unfortunately, in Japanese) for a film commissioned by the Senna family, and the Senna Foundation; the charity set up in his honour. It chronicles the great racing driver’s career, through old footage, interviews with drivers old and new, and frank and honest discussions with his friends and family.
It may only be one and half minutes long, but this trailer certainly gives the impression that for anyone interested in f1, this will be a must-see movie.
And to give you Senna fans a bit more, below is the tribute piece shown recently on the BBC’s Top Gear programme. Stunning stuff in HD quality (in two parts):
