Horrors of the Supercar tuning world pt4 – Hamann special!

Posted 1 year ago in Miscellaneous News, Supercar News

Hamann have been responsible for some of the most horrific attempts at ‘improving’ the world’s nicest cars for many years. We have 3 examples to prove our point! Plus a couple of other baffling attempts by the amateurs…

Exhibit A: The Hamann Imperator:

Ah, the Bentley Continental GT. A paragon of British design and restraint. Classical Bentley grille, powerful haunches, smooth lines and hidden power. Okay, so they have been adopted by the footballing set here in the UK, but you can’t blame Bentley for that. However, we can blame Hamann for the ‘improvements’ they’ve made to create this Imperator.

They start with adding some wide wheelarches, which at the leading edge of the rears, have some truly baffling vents, which ventilate nothing. Then they add some 21″ alloy wheels of doubious design. New front and rear bumpers are added too, with not one but two strips of LEDs onthe front, and more vents and slashes than you can count. Let’s not forget the truly wonderful way that Hamann display the ‘Imperator’ name down the side as well. Which is apparently some sort of Roman Commander…

The obligatory engine remap serves up 600bhp, but frankly that doesn’t really matter on this car…

Exhibit B: The Hamann Stallion:

Yes, you read that correctly. Hamann have chosen to call this worked over Porsche 911 the ‘Stallion’. They have taken their own version of the 911 Turbo front bumper, and added some vents and spotlights, and added a vent to the roof. There are also some graphics and of course, the ‘Lamborghini doors’. Engine tuning comes courtesy of a remap, bigger turbo and a new free-flowing exhaust system which  yields 580bhp. But honestly, that all comes in a close 2nd to the simple fact that they called it the Stallion!

Exhibit C: The Hamann Tycoon Evo-M:

Well what can we say about this one. ‘Ugly’ is such a crass word, but surely it’s the only word that can adequately describe this tuned BMW X6M. The X6M isn’t exactly subtle to start with, but Hamann choose to add bigger bumpers with 2 strips of LED driving lights, 22″ alloys wheels and side skirts. Around the back they add a new slashed and vented bumper with central twin exhausts, and an upper and lower boot spoiler. There was no question of the X6Ms performance, but once again the people at Hamann think differently and do their magic to end up with a 670bhp SUV. Too much? Possibly, but that doesn’t really matter in the eyes of Hamann!

Exhibit D: The Multicolour Matte Pack

The final exhibit shows three cars spotted around London recently. No details are known, only that these 3 cars have all had a matte coloured vinyl wrap on them. Enjoy!

The Matte Red Porsche Carrera GT

The Matte Green Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster

And finally, the Matte Purple Mercedes SLS AMG

It may be the heat getting to us, but we rather like these matte supercars. What are your thoughts?

and why would hamann be a bad tuner!? I think these cars look amazing and unique and different names make them even better, because they make their own versions! And by the way, it’s up to you how you want to modify your car…phahaha too much power on the x6m?? Then what would you say about the brabus 800 widestar!?
