The Beijing Motor Show has once again shown that the automotive industry is alive and well in the far-east, with China being the fastest growing market in the world. A wave of new models have been shown, from electric city cars and high-end Hypercars, to electric Hypercars and high-end city cars!
This year’s Beijing Show is the first pulbic showing of the 661bhp V12 powered Ferrari 599 GTO, of which 599 are to be made – and are all sold out already. Surely a future classic in the making.
Mercedes are showing the CLS Shooting Break, which previews the new look of the replacement CLS, and VW has shown a facelifted Phaeton.
Porsche have shown for the first time the V6-powered Panamera luxury 4dr – making family Porsche motoring more accesible to the masses.

For the uber-rich, Mercedes has launched a facelifted range of Maybach limos, and at the other end of the scale, MG showed the first new small car in years – the Zero. Hopefully sales will be more than that.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a far-east motorshow without some true oddities, most of which seem to come from Japanese ‘car-art’ specialists (their words, not ours) Mitsuoka. It seems you can take just about any modern, good looking sports car or saloon, and turn it into a pastiche of 1940s ‘style’. We’ll let you decide on whether they’re successful or not:
This used to be a Ford Mustang:

And this is their bespoke Supercar, the Orochi. Worry not, we won’t be adding one to next month’s Supercar competition!
