Built in the grounds of the medieval castle of Nürburg and nicknamed “The Green Hell” by Jackie Stewart, the Nürburgring is widely considered the toughest, most unpronounceable, most dangerous and most demanding purpose-built race track in the world.
The perfect weapon to tackle this challenge is the Audi R8 V10. A futuristic coupé that looks ready to fight, is a sublime balance of form and function and that has motor racing coursing through its veins. The R8 V10 gives you the sensation of perfect control over incredible levels of power – and put simply, is a 5.2 litre, ten cylinder, 525bhp, 196mph evolution of the original Quattro 4WD sports car that motorsport enthusiasts have long since immortalised.
The engine which based on the unit in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 is an engineering marvel. At 3,000rpm the engine wakes up, valves open in the exhaust and the engine’s warble drowns out its whirr. By 4,000rpm the exhausts are sounding the charge and the almost seamless torque fires the car up the road. From then on it just gets better and better…
But it’s not all about power. The R8 V10 wears two suits: one for the physics bending backroad blast across Europe, and the other for the (now not so tedious) drive to and from work.
