You want your SLR faster and more powerful than the frankly weedy 617bhp, 3.8-second-to-60mph standard Merc? You’d better go for the 650bhp ‘722’ edition, then. Still not enough? How about the 680bhp, track-only 722 GT?
Still still not enough? You’ll need one of these: the Hamann Volcano. German tuning firm Hamann has revised the SLR, revising the ECU and the exhaust system on the supercharged 5.4-litre V8 to push power to a massive 700bhp and 612lb ft of torque. That means it’ll now hit 60mph in just 3.6 seconds – a couple of tenths slower than the stock SLR – and top out at a frankly scary 208mph.
Of course, there’s carbon fibre all over the place, along with a new bonnet, diffuser and front spoiler to make sure the Volcano doesn’t enter orbit on a V-Max run.
